EOS 70D replaced mono mic on the front of the 60D with stereo mics and placed them to the top of the body sitting besides the horseshoe.
From outside the EOS 70D looks very similar to the Nikon D5500, although the later was released more than one and half year later. The most hype generated on this camera was the Dual Pixel COMS AF sensor technology. Comparing with the conventional TTL-SIR (Through-the-Lens Secondary Image Registration) AF, it breaks the limitation of the auto focusing area and allow the AF precision works across an area 80% of the frame width and height, even in light levels as low as 0 EV. This made the EOS 70D the most capable Live View autofocus system on the market in late 2013.
From the spec, the EOS 70D is actually comparable to Nikon D7200, which was release in early 2015.
