My Experience with Blendtec

I purchased my Blendtec Total Blender back in 2011. As I missed Costco roadshow and did not see it in my local warehouse at the time, I just bought it on Amazon. One good thing I like Amazon is that my invoice still sits in my account, it says,

Wow, comparing to today’s deal, it was too expensive as my package didn’t include the Twister Jar. Well, I won’t regret as I’ve already used it these many years and it still works great.

The main reason I chose Blendtec was the ease of clean. One drop of soap with one cup of warm water, set for 5 seconds spin then rinse it, DONE! Once in a while I still threw it into the dishwasher upper rack for a regular wash with the heat on. I doubt any one would specifically set the heat off just for this extra jar, although the notes on the lid remind you to do so. After more than 3 years, one day I used it to dice bunch of veggie in dry mode. Suddenly the machine stopped in the middle of a cycle. The veggie was like dough clogging the blade. I shake it a bit then forced another cycle. Not long I smelt the rubber burn and the machine stuck again. Take off the jar, there were some brown pellets on the base near the drive socket. I just realized something went wrong. The rubber seal at the bottom of the jar worn out. Pouring out the food, I tried to rinse the jar and it started leaking. I had a blurred memory that my Blentec came with a 3 years warranty. Damn, just passed it! Before ordering the replacement jar, I just did a quick search to see if some one had the similar issue. I did find it and also found that Blendtec extended its standard warranty to 7 years for all HP3A purchased made on or after 6/1/2011. Even sweeter, some one mentioned the warranty is retroactive. After verifying it on Blendtec’s site, I called customer support immediately. The new jar came in about two weeks and the rubber gasket which seals the blade has more plastic look.

The replacement came with a 3 years warranty as being treated as a separate purchase. I knew it eventually would wear out again, but this time I will keep in mind the tips given by the representative who handled my claim,

  • Manually spin the blade shaft 3 time before using
  • Don’t press on the jar lid while motor is on
  • Don’t wash it with the dishwasher heat on
