This recall is for Ninja BL660 models sold between March 2012 and September 2015 from Costco. SharkNinja announced in Nov. 2015 that there are 12 models of Ninja® BL660 Series Professional Blender affected in this recall including: BL660, BL660B, BL660C, BL660QCN, BL660QPL, BL660W, BL660WM, BL663, BL663CO, BL665QBK, BL665QCN, and BL665QWH. Costco no longer carries these items.
The recall does not require consumers to return their blenders. It’s due to the concern of lacerations if consumers do not follow the correct instructions. The stacked blade is sharp and not locked in place so it poses the risk of laceration when pouring with the lid removed. But if using the locked lid’s pour spout, the lid is fully locked onto the blender pitcher.
As indicated in the above picture, to avoid the risk of lacerations, consumers should empty the blender’s pitcher through the locked lid’s pour spout, or by removing both the lid and the stacked blade assembly from the pitcher before pouring.
